Susan is an advocate for solutions to the housing crisis that “expand housing across a broad range of incomes” and she has pledged to “stimulate public/private partnerships through the use of Measure A dollars” and will “support first time home buyer programs.” ^{1 2}

FACT: Susan Ellenberg Supports the San Jose Google Transit-Oriented Proposal

Susan will support Google’s development that will build new housing and bring millions in new revenue to San Jose and Santa Clara County. ³

FACT: Dan Rocha would exclude tech employees from accessing affordable housing

On Don’s campaign website, he states that he supports affordable housing for “non-tech employees.” Thousands of District 4 working- and middle-class families are supported by jobs in the technology industry. Don Rocha would exclude them from being eligible for affordable housing. ⁴

FACT: Dan Rocha plays politics with the Google Development Proposal

Don was the ONLY NO vote ⁵ on the San Jose City Council against the proposal, then picketed against it but he also stated in a public questionnaire that he supports it. ⁶

HOUSING

Susan has supported the statewide housing bond and incentives to build housing for working-class families. Her record demonstrates she’ll fight for real solutions to make housing more affordable for students, seniors and middle-class families.

HOMELESSNESS

Getting to the root problems ³

Susan’s public statements and her work on the San Jose school board show that she will take a comprehensive approach to addressing the root causes of homelessness. Susan supports Santa Clara County “working with its 15 cities, leveraging Measure A housing-bond dollars” to build the housing we need to move homeless residents off the streets and into stable homes.

TRAFFIC & INFRASTRUCTURE

Susan has endorsed “Regional Measure 3” to provide traffic relief and transit improvements. This initiative is on the June 5 ballot and will include regional funding for the BART extension to downtown San Jose and Santa Clara, improvements at Diridon Station/SAP Arena and traffic relief on highways like 101 and 237.

EDUCATION

Susan has served as the President of the San Jose Unified School District Board and has emphasized “early childhood development, ensuring that children have stable housing and good nutrition.” San Jose Inside called her “The Kid’s Champ”.
